Joe Gomez was born on May 18th, 1947 in Thorndale, Tx to Eduarado and Encarnacion (Ortiz) Gomez. Joe grew up with five brothers Benito (Ben), Bernardo (Bill), Pedro (Pete), Porfirio (Pilo) and Carlos as well as three sisters Patricia, Sandy and Camillo.

On September 13th, 1966 Joe was drafted into the United States Army where he received the National Defense Service metal; Vietnam Service metal with three Bronze Service Stars; Combat Infantryman Badge; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Metal; Sharpshooter (Rifle) Expert (Pistol); 2nd Class Gunner 81mm Mortar.

In 1978 he met the love of his life Janie Orta and had two children, Gabriel and Sophia. On September 6th, 2003 the decided to renew their vows to one another.

Joe enjoyed singing so much that he formed a band called 'Joe G and Los Cuarto', He then moved up to sing and play with AJ & the Variety band where they recorded an album with Joe singing the song 'Make the World Go Away'. Joe also enjoyed dancing to 'Little Joe' where you would always find Joe and Janie on the dance floor. He also loved gardening, sitting outside with his Son Gabriel and watching his shows; Gunsmoke, The Waltons, Cheyanne, the local news and of course his favorite movie Old Yeller.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Ben, Bill, Pete and Pilo. One sister; Patricia. And his loving wife Janie.

Joe is survived by his son Gabriel Gomez (Yvette) and daughter Sophia Gomez. He leaves behind 6 grandkids; Aaliyah Gomez, Sergio Franco, Faith Gomez, Trent Alderete, Nevaeh Gomez and Miah Gomez.
