Jimmy Edward Wentrcek

August 29, 1945 — June 15, 2022

Jimmy Edward Wentrcek, 76, of Granger, joined the Lord on Wednesday, June 15th, 2022.

Jimmy was born on August 29, 1945, as the first child of Ed and Mary (Adamek) Wentrcek.  He graduated from Granger High School in 1963 and married his soulmate, Linda Malish, on February 3, 1968.  He shared his entire married life with her in Granger, where they were surrounded by family and friends and raised their son, Michael.

Jimmy was a farmer and a rancher and enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.  He was a talented gunsmith and knife maker who was well-known for his unique, custom-made knives.  Jimmy was passionate about his hobbies and incorporated them into his life as much as possible, including hunting trips and frequent visits to gun and knife shows.  Jimmy had an appreciation for music and a natural gift for playing instruments; he was a self-taught guitarist and organist, who enjoyed playing regularly.  He loved listening to smooth jazz, Czech songs and sharing his love of music with those closest to him.  Jimmy was a steadfast and humble man of faith who walked with the Lord his entire life and served as a worship leader at Grace Fellowship Church and Christ Fellowship Church for many years.  He also loved his country and served in the Army National Guard.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Mary.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda; son, Michael and wife, Melissa; two granddaughters, Kaelyn and Madyson; three great grandchildren, Kaley, Abel and Landon; sister, Linda and husband Victor Wilhelm, sister-in-law, Nancy Mokry; aunt, Kathryn Adamek, as well as numerous nieces,  nephews and cousins.

Celebration of Life will be held at the Granger Brethren Church at 10am on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Private burial will be held at the Granger Brethren Cemetery at a later date. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to the Granger Volunteer Fire Department at PO Box 714 Granger, TX 76530, or to the Granger Brethren Church at PO Box 943 Granger, TX 76530.
