Jilberto Mendez, Jr.

Jilberto (Gilbert) Mendez Jr. was born on March 6 ^th , 1973 in LaGrange, TX and was taken from us on the afternoon of April 7 ^th , 2020 at 2:11pm at the age of 47.

Gilbert was predeceased by his grandfather Jose Jimenez, Father Jilberto Mendez Sr., niece Raquel and great nephew Isaiah Mendez Herrera.

Gilbert was survived by his mother Christina Mendez, sister Virginia and Alejandro ( AJ ) Mendez Juarez, brother Joseph and Sarah Mendez, sister Sarah and John Barron and in addition his 4 nieces, 4 nephews and 3 great nephews.

Pallbearers will be Alejandro Juarez, John Barron, Juju Mendez, Wanda (Rocky) Herrera, Pablo Palomo and Edward Yanez.

Gilbert will always be remember in so many different ways by so many different people, as we all know he was a spontaneous person and always all over the place ( if there was a gathering, HE WAS THERE). Gilbert was one of those people you could always count on to help you, at times it took him some convincing to warm up to your idea but by the end of the conversation it was “okay I’ll let you know when to come pick me up “. He loved to clean and cook, especially tortillas for him mom. When you would see Gilbert you would always see a smile on him and somewhere nearby there was always a jacket or a scarf, because no matter the weather he was always cold.

A Celebration of Gilbert's Life will be live streamed via Providence Funeral Home Facebook Page beginning at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 20.
