Jay Joseph Jaecks, Sr.

May 14, 1939 — June 10, 2018

Jay Joseph Jaecks, Sr. passed peacefully Sunday, June 10, 2018, at the age of 79. The youngest of 9 children, Jay was born on May 14, 1939 to the late Oscar and Lena Jaecks of Frame Switch. He graduated from Hutto High School in 1957 and began his life long career of farming. He married the love of his life, Avonia “Nancy” Walsh on October 8, 1960.

Jay enjoyed being at the family farm and spending time with his family and friends. His closet of “baby” blue button up shirts made him seem like a predictable man to most; but family and friends knew him as a funny, witty, hardworking, strong willed, caring and compassionate husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Jay’s farming career led him to serve on several boards and organizations including Williamson County Pest Management, Blackland Cotton and Grain, Texas State Support Committee for Cotton Research. He also served as an Alternate and a Voting Delegate Director for the State of Texas Cotton Incorporated Board. In 1987, he was awarded the Taylor Chamber of Commerce Master Farmer of the Year. He was happiest when he was plowing, planting, or harvesting with his boys.

Jay is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, William “Sonny” (Olga), Hildren Elroy “Buddy” (LaVerda), Oscar, Jr. “Dolly” (Jule), Willis (Margaret), and Eugene “Genie” (Martha) Jaecks; sisters, Aleen Jaecks, Wynnell Burrell and brother-in-law Tom Payne.

Jay will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 57 years, Avonia “Nancy” Jaecks; Son, Jay Jr. and wife Cheryl; daughter, Sharon Anders and husband, Gary; and daughter, Pamela McFall and husband, Dan. Jay is also survived by his sister, Audell Payne and brother-in-law Adolf Burrell.

He will also be fondly remembered by his 7 grandchildren, Ashley Doss (Adam), Brooke Bachmeyer (Aaron), Ryan Jaecks (Heather), Tyler Jaecks, Craig Anders, Madison McFall, Nicholas McFall and his two great-grandchildren, Harper and Daxon Doss.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Providence Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 2:00pm at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas.
