James Milton Wilkerson

James Milton Wilkerson, known as Buddy to all who knew and loved him passed peacefully into God’s arms in Georgetown, Texas on January 11, 2018. He was 87 years young.  His beloved wife Bebe of 67 years was by his side.

Buddy was born on October 3, 1930 to Robert and Mary Wilkerson in Georgetown, Texas.

Buddy played Taylor Duck football as #64 in the blocking back position. He graduated from Taylor High School class of 1948.

Buddy proposed to Bebe on September 8, 1950 when he asked her to go to the first football game of the year.  He said, ‘I have something for you’ and gave her an engagement ring.  They were married in the First Methodist church of Taylor, Texas on October 21, 1950.

Buddy and Bebe were devote members of St. Mary’s Catholic church in Taylor, Texas for 60+ years.   Buddy served St. Mary’s church by providing floral arrangements for holiday services and eucharist preparation.

Buddy served in the National Guard.

Buddy worked for TP&L, Taylor Floral Company of Taylor, Texas.  He then sold insurance for Reliable Insurance Company of St. Louis, Missouri.  He also worked for Brice Wholesale Floral of Austin, Texas.  Buddy retired from Southern Floral Company in Austin, Texas after 27 years.

Buddy was an active and loving father to his three sons Doug, Scott and Kelly.  He and Bebe would always be in the stands watching their sons play football, basketball and baseball. Buddy also coached youth sports.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary and two sisters Mary Standland and Mildred Uzzel.

He is survived by his sister Bobbye Dean, wife Amelia ‘BeBe’ Wilkerson, sons Doug Wilkerson and wife Sharon of Taylor, Texas, Scott Wilkerson of Taylor, Texas, Kelly Wilkerson and Amy Jost of Thorndale, Texas.  Grandchildren, Ben Westland, Paige Wilkerson, Chris Wilkerson, Andrea Eiben and husband Coleman, Brittany Barcuch and husband Anthony, Haley Wilkerson, Brianna Wilkerson and Alyson Jost.  Great-Grandchildren Ryan Barcuch, Addison Smith, Reid Barcuch and Rhett Barcuch.

Visitation service will be held on Wednesday January 17, 2018 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas from 5-7pm with a memorial service at 5:30. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Mary’s Catholic church in honor of James ‘Buddy’ Wilkerson.
