James H Vance (Jim) passed away on October 5, 2020 in Taylor, Texas due to heart disease.
Jim had attended St. Stephens Episcopal School in Austin for high school, graduating in 1965. He then attended Rice University graduating in 1969. He lived in Austin and worked for the city of Austin and for Barton-Aschman Associates when they were in Austin. He then did contract work in China and Eastern Europe. Jim loved the American west particularly the Grand Canyon where he attempted to make yearly treks with good friends.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Kirby Vance, a district judge for Williamson County and Margaret Alexander Vance, an otolaryngologist in Taylor.
He is survived by his sister, Margaret Cahill, brother-in-law, Chris Cahill, niece, Kerrie Cahill, nephew, Kirt Cahill and his wife Sarah, and grandnephew, Austin and grandniece, Hannah.
A memorial will be held at a future date due to covid limitations.
