James Edward Spinn, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, 87, passed away surrounded by his family December 8, 2023, in Round Rock.
James was born in Washington County, Texas, on January 2, 1936, to Edd and Alma (Voigt) Spinn. He grew up in Holland and graduated from Holland High School. James served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. Known as “the real plumber,” James was a master plumber who started his own business, Spinn Plumbing. He retired from the City of Austin as a utility inspector. He was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor.
James, who was fond of backyard barbecues, was also an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. After he retired, he enjoyed watching the Thorndale bulldogs. James loved listening to classic country music on the radio. Most of all, James loved his family, and we will miss him.
James is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Spinn; parents, Edd and Alma Spinn; brother, Allen Ray; and grandson, Jason Peterson.
James is survived by his daughter, Debbie Peterson and Blaine of Bertram, two sons, Craig Spinn and wife, Kelle of Round Rock, and Keith Spinn of Austin; grandchildren, Jillian Fischler of Hutto, Dillon Peterson of Marble Falls, Megan Spinn and partner, Bobby of Jarrell, Kristen Salerno and husband, Stefano of Cedar Park; great-grandchildren, Lexie and Kinzie Peterson, and Enzo and Luca Salerno; sister, Ruth Lange of Round Rock; brother, Will Spinn and wife, Kay of Holland.
Visitation will be at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor on Thursday, December 14, from 5:00 - 7:00PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at Providence Funeral Home on Friday, December 15, at 11:00AM officiated by Reverend Dr. George R. Qualley. Interment will follow at Thorndale City Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church and Hospice Austin.
