James "Jimmy" Grimm

James (Jimmy) David Grimm was welcomed into the home of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 4, 2022, with his mother and family by his side.

Jimmy was born to Eugene and Dorothy Grimm on October 9, 1959 in Taylor, Texas.   Growing up, Jimmy developed a love for music and participated in talent shows.  While in 4H, he performed a duet with a friend at Tarleton State University and won a state level award.  Jimmy graduated from Taylor High School in 1978.  While in high school he participated in band and served as the band’s drum major.  He then received his Cosmetology license in Austin, Texas and worked in Austin and Houston before coming back to Taylor and opening his own shop, “The Hair Corner.”  He enjoyed serving his clients and always looked forward to visiting with them.  However, his main love was singing and entertaining in the Taylor area.

Jimmy performed in four musicals at Southwestern University in Georgetown.  Also, he performed at many opera houses around Central Texas for over ten years.  Jimmy sang the National Anthem at the Frank Erwin Center for a Lady Longhorn basketball game.  He also rode in on a horse and sang the National Anthem on the 50 ^th anniversary of the Taylor Rodeo.  He performed in Nashville, Tennessee on “You Can Be a Star” and auditioned for “America’s Got Talent” in Houston in 2011.  He sang at many churches and events in the Taylor area.  He even continued singing while residing in the nursing home after his accident in 2018.  Music was the happiest thing in his life.

Other than music, Jimmy loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his parents, and his special relationship with Abby, his cocker spaniel, who was with him for 17 years.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Grimm, in 2009.  He is survived by his mother Dorothy Grimm, his two brothers Bob Grimm (Marilyn) and Gary Grimm, nephew Ben Grimm (Lauren), nieces Lori Wilson (Mike), Jamye DeRiso (Troy), Mandy Turner (Luke), Lisa Moltz (Brad), Ashley Grimm, four great nieces, and many cousins.

Pallbearers are Ben Grimm, Luke Turner, Glenn Randle, Mike Wilson, Brad Moltz, Harvey Kaase, and John William ( Billy) Smith.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 9, 2022, with Funeral Services beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Taylor Brethren Church or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Taylor.
