James Harland Gaswint

February 28, 1955 — September 7, 2022

James “Jimmy” Harland Gaswint, 67, of Granger, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

James was born February 28, 1955, in San Marcos to Warren and Sylvia (Coffman) Gaswint. He was one of their seven children, having three brothers and three sisters.  While living in Granger, he went on to meet his high school sweetheart, Debra (Labaj) Gaswint.  They later were married June 9, 1973, and blessed with two beautiful children, Michelle and Nick.

Jimmy was a hard worker up until his very last day. He followed in his father’s footsteps, found a love that was undeniable in truck driving.  During his forty-two year long career he was owner/operator of Gaswint Trucking, an agriculture hauler where in this very small community he was fortunate to have made several lifelong friends.

Jimmy was a selfless man, never hesitating to lend a hand, and always willing to pull up his sleeves to help someone else out. He was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren. When he was home, you could catch him in the stands watching so proudly. But most of all, he loved Debra, she was the love of his life, and his priority was to make sure she was always taken care of.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Sylvia Gaswint; sister, Bernice Gower; and son in-law, Jack Good.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Debra; daughter, Michelle Good; son, Nick (Laura) Gaswint; seven grandkids, Devyn, Ryan, and Houston Gaswint, Kayla Selucky, Seth, Sydni, and Gavin Good. He is also survived by his brothers, Warren (Debbie) Gaswint, Mike (Rosanna) Gaswint, Stephen (Amanda) Gaswint; his sisters, Glenda Hoyle and Andrea Wright; along with numerous nephews, nieces and other loving family members and friends.
