Irene Elsie Hamann

November 16, 1922 — December 19, 2020

Irene Elsie Michalik Hamann, age 98, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 19 th , 2020 at the SPJST nursing home in Taylor, Texas. She was born November 16, 1922 in Taylor and graduated from Taylor High School. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Hamann, whom she married in 1945. She is survived by her son, Larry Hamann (Jennifer Lowes Hamann), two granddaughters, Cristi Minzenmayer (Randy), and Michelle Jones (Stacy), and five great grandchildren, Trevor and Lauren Loessin, and Weston, Randa, and Remington Minzenmayer.

Irene was a hardworking housewife and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother throughout her life. She was a longtime member of the Taylor brethren church. She cheerfully attended, assisted, and danced at her local SPJST events and was also the president of the local women’s VFW auxiliary. Irene truly lived life to the fullest enjoying the little things, like calling friends and family, near and far, chatting for hours on the phone, and sitting on her front porch with her four-legged sidekick, and always providing superfluous amounts of epic snacks. Irene and her famous Thanksgiving stuffing (among many other dishes) will remain legendary in her family’s eyes.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 5:00 pm on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Providence Funeral Home. Family will be present from 11:00 to 1:00pm. Graveside service will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the Taylor City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to SPJST.
