Helen Marie Kaatz, 83, passed away Tuesday March 2, 2021, at S.P.J.S.T. Skilled Nursing Facility in Taylor.  Services will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 1:00pm at The Chapel at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor.  Visitation will be Friday, March 5, 2021, from 5-7:00 p.m.

Helen was born April 7, 1937, in the Hoxie Community outside Taylor to Walter and Mary (Schoener) Klotz.  She was baptized, confirmed and was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sandoval, having taught Sunday School for many years.

Helen graduated from Thrall High School and participated in cheerleading and sports.  After school, Helen worked locally in the Insurance profession.  On June 22, 1957, Helen married Norman Kaatz and this marriage was blessed with two beautiful children.  Helen and Norman made their home in Taylor and enjoyed all the lifelong friendships they built throughout the community.  Helen finished her working career with the Texas Department of Health in Austin, Texas.  She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Taylor Volunteer Fire Department and the VFW Post #4476.  Helen was a great cook and canning her salty dill pickles was always a precise production and tradition she shared with her children and close family.   Helen had a green thumb and loved her flowers, she truly enjoyed plants and working in her yard and garden, but her true joy was her grandchildren, and spending time laughing with family and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, her parents, brothers Glenroy and Howard, and several in-laws.

Helen is survived by her loving children, Sherilyn Kisamore and husband, Keith, and David Kaatz and wife, Jamie; her grandchildren, Dalton Kisamore and girlfriend, Lauren Gibson, and Kelsie Srnensky and husband, Seth; brother, Norman Klotz; sisters-in-law, Joyce Klotz and Arnell Klotz; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Mike Lannen, Darren Streit, Robert Streit, Joey Woods, Marc Kaase. and Kevin Klotz.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church at P.O. Box 104, Thrall, Texas 76578, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The Family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Lucas Wong, the staff of the Vasicek Cancer Treatment Center at Baylor Scott & White in Temple, and the staff of the S.P.J.S.T. Skilled Nursing Facility in Taylor, Texas.
