Harold Alvis Biar of Thorndale passed away on February 8, 2021 at the age of 89.
Harold was born November 19, 1931, the youngest of 12 children . He was a graduate of Thorndale High School and served in the U.S. Army. On October 21, 1956 he married Rosalie Angelyn Wuthrich .
Harold served as usher, sang in the church choir and was a past treasurer of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was employed by Alcoa for 38 ½ years, was a Northrup King seed dealer , and served on the Milam County Appraisal District Review Board. In 1999 and 2016, he was named the Thorndale Chamber of Commerce Area Farmer of the Year. Harold was proud of the fact that he farmed a Texas Century Farm, one that has been in operation by the same family for more than 100 years. After his retirement, he and Rosalie enjoyed traveling, especially to see how farming is done in other areas of the country. They visited 42 states and 14 countries.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Lydia ( Moerbe ) Biar ; sisters, Hedwig, Martha, and Edna Biar and Ruth Farschman ; brothers, Henry O., Rev. Carl, Walter, Martin, Bill and Otto Biar .
Harold is survived by his wife of 64 years ; Rosalie of Thorndale; daughters, Lorna Symank and husband Alan of Georgetown, Beverly Petrusek and husband, Mark of Austin, and Rhonda Byler and husband James of Midlothian; son, David Biar and wife, Rachel of Dorchester, Nebraska; grandsons, Joseph Daniels of Richardson, Justin Daniels and wife Allison of Waxahachie , and Christopher Petrusek of Austin; sister, Doris Urban of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law Gloria Jaecks and husband Charles of Round Rock, and numerous nieces and nephews.
