Guillermo “Sonny” Trevino Jr. age 68, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021, in Taylor, Texas. He was born to Guillermo Sr. and Angelita De La Rosa Trevino on July 17, 1953.
Guillermo graduated from Taylor High School in 1972. He received a bachelor’s degree in Education and Sociology from St. Edwards University in 1977.
Guillermo held many titles in the work force, from Dell Computer Corporation to an account examiner IV with the Texas Comptroller Board until he retired. After retirement he became a substitute teacher with the Taylor ISD.
In his early years, Guillermo was a saxophonist with the Chicano band “Los Impressions” and later played with other bands.
Guillermo was able to travel to Spain, Mexico, Morocco, Rome and even the Holy Land of Israel.
He was a devout Catholic who served his church, Our Lady of Guadalupe, in various ministries, from Eucharistic Minister to the Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus.
Guillermo enjoyed researching the family genealogy of both parents, and spending time as a substitute teacher, as well as spending time with his large family and friends. He was active in Mexican American social political causes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and nephew Christopher Garner.
Guillermo is survived by his siblings; Gloria Trevino- Frye and husband Dennis, Delia Sutton and husband Charles, Linda Garner-Betak and husband Charlie, Sylvia Trevino, Madeline Trevino, Hector Trevino, Robert L. Trevino, and a special brother/son like relationship with Mark Trevino and wife Leslie. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 25, 2021, with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 P.M.
Inurnment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Taylor, Texas at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 26, 2021, Following the graveside service, family of Guillermo, would like his friends to join them in the church hall at Our Lady of Guadalupe to sharing a meal in celebration of his life.
The family would also like to thank everyone for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
