Guadalupe Briones

Guadalupe (Lupion) Briones V, 85 of Taylor, passed away unexpectedly on September 10, 2021, in Lubbock, TX surrounded by loved ones.

Lupion, was born on June 6, 1936, in Thorndale, TX to Lucia (Morales) and Luz Vasquez. He lived in Taylor where he attended St. Mary's Catholic School and grew up with eight brothers and three sisters. He moved to California in 1966, where he met the love of his life Virginia Perez, and they were married on December 22, 1967. To this marriage came nine children. He was employed by California Steel and Tube for 28 years where he retired. He moved back to Texas and worked for HEB, then retired for a second time. His hobbies included fishing, camping, hunting, spending time at the deer lease with his brothers, watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys and teaching his grandsons how to work on cars in his garage while listening to music, but nothing compared to driving across Texas to enjoy watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play ball, where he was most affectionately known as "Tata".  He loved spending time with his family and was always ready for a road trip.

He is preceded in death by his parents Anna and Juan Briones, Lucia and Luz Vasquez, son Guadalupe Briones Jr., brothers Juan Briones, Felix Briones, Louie Briones, Demitrio Vasquez, Joseph Vasquez and Cipriano Vasquez.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Virginia, daughters Anna (Rick) Sandoval of Taylor, Linda Briones (JJ Naranjo) of Rockdale, Rosa Briones (Rafael Salinas) of Tahoka, Cynthia Briones (Jorge Peralta) of Taylor, Christina Briones (Steve Hall) of Thorndale, Melissa (Martin) Velez of Thorndale , sons Ruben Briones (Heather Fleming) of Rockdale, and Vincent Briones (Ashley Kubena) of Caldwell, sisters Guadalupe Rodriquez of Georgetown, Linda Rodriquez of Taylor, Norberta Vasquez of Austin, brothers Inez Vasquez of Taylor, Johnny Vasquez of Georgetown and Francisco Vasquez of San Diego, CA. He was blessed with 27 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
