Grant Austin Rice, 19, of Houston, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 23, 2021.
Grant was born on December 5, 2001, in Katy, Texas to Derek Rice and Heather Robinson-Rice. He grew up in Houston, Texas with one older sister. Grant attended the Spectrum of Hope ABA for Autism, where he looked forward to going every day.
Grant had a love for barbecue and would always accurately point out the direction of the barbecue joint to his father, who would drive him there. Grant always had his iPhone on him, watching his favorite videos and listening to music. He loved to go on his nightly car rides with his father, where they would go get ice cream, chicken nuggets, and a soft drink. Grant loved ending their car rides by listening to the Goo Goo Dolls on the stereo. He especially enjoyed all types of water activities; swimming in pools, sliding down waterslides, playing in watering holes, and getting a tan every summer.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, John Robinson of Splendora, Texas.
Grant leaves behind to cherish his memory his father, Derek Rice, and his mother, Heather Robinson-Rice; his older sister, Madison Rice; his paternal grandparents, Sandra and Raymond Rice; his maternal grandparents, Vickie and Rodger Bourque. Grant also leaves behind his Uncle Dale Rice and wife Anne, his Aunt Lisa Nichols and husband Ralph; as well as numerous cousins.
A graveside service will be held to celebrate Grant’s life at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at the Taylor City Cemetery.
