Gilbert Gomez Torres of Killeen, Texas, passed away on December 27, 2023, in Temple, Texas, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 6, 1939, in New Braunfels, Texas to Pedro Torres and Maria de Jesus Gomez. He married Rosa Iris Caraballo-Velez on November 18, 1961, and together they raised their family in the Central Texas area where he worked as a barber for more than 60 years.
Gilbert was the owner of Mr. G’s Barber Shop and was co-owner of OG’s School of Hair Design in Killeen, Texas. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and would often tell stories of the people he was able to meet as a barber. His profession and outgoing personality helped him develop long-lasting friendships with countless people throughout the local communities. Gilbert enjoyed music and singing, but most of all he loved being with family and friends.
Gilbert is survived by his two daughters: Norma I. Ceccacci & husband Vince of Blossburg, PA and Maria Elisa (Lisa) Wilson & husband, Eddie of Copperas Cove, TX; his three grandchildren: Anthony J. D’Alena of Williamsport, PA, Kara Elisa Colston & husband, Travis of Copperas Cove, TX, and Alex Rene Wilson-Garza & husband, Caleb of Georgetown, TX; his two great-grandchildren, June Elisa Myong Colston and Aiden Garza; brothers: Filomeno Torres, Johnnie Torres, Alfredo Torres, Florentino Torres, Severino Torres, Pablo Torres and one sister, Tita Cortez, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
