Georgia Mccurry

Georgia Frances (Georgie) Janosec Mokry McCurry of Taylor Texas previously of Austin Texas passed away on August 2, 2021.
She was born on January 11, 1933 to Joseph (Joe) and Franciska Doubrava Janosec in Taylor Texas.
She grew up in Rice's Crossing and went to the country school in Rice's Crossing. She graduated from Taylor High School.
She worked in state government in Austin Texas for 20 years. She would tell interesting stories about her "capital days". She was secretary to Bob Bullock when he was Secretary of State.

Georgie was an active member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's. She also married both husbands at St. Mary's. She was an active member of the Catholic daughters of the Americas for over 50 years. She was also an active member of Saint Ann's Altar Society. She was devoted to her family and cherished her many friends. She loved to travel.

In 1970 she and her mother traveled to the Czech Republic. Her mother was born in Czechoslovakia. Georgia was an excellent cook and decorator and hosted many parties.

She had a loving and compassionate heart. The community of Rice's Crossing and was very dear to her. It was her "home base". Her favorite pastime was reading biographies of famous people.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son Scott J. Mokry of Austin, Texas and her daughter Marcia Ann Teague of Rice's Crossing. She adored her grandsons Sterling Allen Teague and his wife Angela of Elgin, Texas and also grandson Ashton Andrew Teague and his wife Lauren of Taylor, Texas. She is also survived by her great grandsons Casey Allen Teague, Hayden Andrew Teague and Korbin Miles Teague. Also her step granddaughter Eve Sumner of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also survived by her beloved cousin Allen James Doubrava of Rice's Crossing. Also surviving her is Lucy Mokry & Vicky Hurley of Austin, Texas.

She was proceeded in death by her parents. Her father passed away in 1976 and her mother in 1982. Also proceeded in death was her brother Victor J. Janosec. He passed away in 2017. Also proceeded her in death was her son-in-law Casey Allen Teague in 2006.

In 1951 she married Milton Mokry at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor, Texas. The union was blessed by two wonderful children, Scott J Mokry (Scotty) and Marcia Ann (Marcy).
Milton passed away in 1970. In 1976 Georgie married Harold McCurry of Fort Worth in St. Mary's Church in Taylor, Texas.In 1999 Harold passed away.

We grieve her loss. She was the matriarch of our family and so loved.

Graveside service : 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at St. Mary's Cemetery in Taylor.
