Gaylon Steffek

March 24, 1960 — June 5, 2024

Gaylon Bernard Steffek, age 64, passed away on the fifth of June, 2024 surrounded by family and friends at his home in Taylor. Goose was born on the 24th of March in 1960, Where he spent most of his life in the Granger, Tx and Taylor, Tx area. Goose never gave up or lost his faith while battling his brain cancer.

Goose attended St. Mary’s Catholic school and graduated from Taylor High School. Goose's journey touched the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of strength and resilience. His unwavering faith in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all who knew him. Goose came from a long line of musical family and friends. Goose played the drums for most of his life and played with various bands over the years all around Texas to include, King of Swing, Innovations, Road Runner, Texas Fever, Lonesome Dove, and Sterling Country. Goose also sang and played with the St. Mary’s folk group and contemporary band.

Goose, son of Dorothy and Louie Steffek, is survived by his loving spouse Donna Steffek, and his children Heather, Brent, Derek and his wife Courtney Steffek, Reid and his wife Rachel Blosser, Gavin and his wife Christina Blosser, and his grandchildren Leah and Granger Stone, Emery and Walker Steffek, and Colton and Grady Blosser. Goose is also survived by his brothers, Glen and his wife Trish Steffek, and Michael and his wife Robin Steffek, and many nieces and nephews. Goose was preceded in death by his father, Louie Steffek, and his sister Angie Steffek.

Goose will most be remembered for his larger-than-life persona and personality, and his unwavering devoted catholic faith. Goose worked majority of his life as a Glazer with Austin Glass, and Floyds Glass. You could find Goose in his spare time at band gigs, the deer lease, a dominoes table, watching the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys, or a trip to the casinos.

The viewing will be June 14th 2024 at providence funeral home from 5-7pm with a rosary to follow at 7 pm. The funeral service to honor and celebrate Goose's life will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Taylor, Tx at 10am on June 15th 2024. Grave sight will be at St. Mary’s catholic church cemetery, and celebration will follow at the Cotton Club in Granger, Tx.

May Goose’s legacy, big smile, big heart, laughter, and devoted faith be remembered by us all with a Milwaukee’s best (The BEAST) in his hand.
