Franklin D. Gaddy

July 17, 1941 — August 3, 2020

Franklin Delano Gaddy, 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Manor, TX on August 3, 2020 after a short battle with lung cancer.

Mr. Gaddy was born July 17, 1941 in Dillon, South Carolina to Eros and Flonnie (Cole) Gaddy. Frank served honorably in the United States Air Force. He enlisted in San Angelo, TX and served as a refueling specialist before completing his active service at Bergstrom AFB. His favorite aircraft to refuel was the B-52.

While serving in the military, he met Cara Lynn Vahrenkamp (“Lynn”), and only three months later, in December 1961, they were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings, TX. Many people told them a three month courtship would never last, but Frank and Lynn proved them wrong, with a strong 39 year marriage that was cut short when his wife Lynn passed away in 2001 after her own battle with lung cancer. Frank and Lynn established Gaddy’s feed store together in 1973 in Pflugerville, TX. Frank worked tirelessly at Gaddy’s for over 40 years and handed the reins to his son Mark. Frank and Lynn then concentrated on one of the things they loved most – fishing.

Frank was remarried in 2010 to Dolores Turrubiarte (“Dolly”) at Turning Point Fellowship Church in Manor, TX. Frank and Dolly were long time neighbors. Together they enjoyed raising cattle, farming, and eating at their favorite restaurants.

Mr. Gaddy is survived by wife, Dolly Gaddy, his daughter Sarah Dauro and husband Jay, his daughter Mary Loftin and husband Kyle, his son Mark Gaddy and wife Kim, and Dolly's children John and Adrian San Migel. Mr. Gaddy is survived by five grandchildren: Moriah, Candice, Kristina, Rebecca, and Matthew; Dolly’s five grandchildren: Caressa, Christopher, Jacob, Kaleb, and Ciara; one great grandson: Devin; and Dolly’s great granddaughter: Rylee.

Mr. Gaddy was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn, and parents Eros and Flonnie.

At his request, no service will be held. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or another veterans organization. Condolences may be sent to Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, TX.
