Frank L. Matula

Frank Louis Matula, 79, of Taylor, transitioned to his eternal rest on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. He spent his final hours sharing precious goodbyes with his wife, sister, children, and grandchildren, all of whom were present at his hospital bedside.

Frank was born on August 19, 1942 in Granger to Henry and Bertha (Cervenka) Matula. He was the youngest of their four children, having two older sisters and one older brother. Frank was a 1960 graduate of Granger High School achieving recognition there as the High Ranking Boy in his class. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He married Virginia Dykowski Neal on November 25, 1972 at S.S. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. Frank was employed at the 1 st State Bank of Granger with a 31 year career that culminated with his status as Bank President until his retirement in 1999.  In retirement, he became Chairman of the Board of the 1 st State Bank Corporation.  Frank enjoyed many leisure activities including fishing, hunting, gardening, sausage making, wine making, wood working, polka dancing, card games, dominos, and casino outings.  He cherished spending time with family and friends, while being a devout Catholic throughout his life.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Evelyn (Albert) Vrana, and brother-in-Law Clifton Rozacky.  He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Virginia, children Peggy (Deral) Milliken of Taylor, Terry Neal of Austin, Gary Neal (and Jennifer Brunello) of Austin, and Larry Dwain Neal of Austin, grandchildren Kacie (Chris) Wilkerson of Pflugerville, Trey (Meagan) Milliken of Hutto, Drew (Jennie) Neal of Thrall, and Matt Milliken (and Mary Angelich) of Round Rock, great grandchildren Landon Thompson, Kaylyn Wilkerson, Grady, Andee Kate, and Harlan Neal, and Jordan and Madison Milliken, sister Dorothy Rozacky, and brother, Norbert (Barbara) Matula, both of Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church or the American Heart Association.

Visitation is to be held Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30 pm at Providence Funeral Home, 807 Carlos Parker Blvd. NW, Taylor.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 301 E. 4th St., Taylor. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Granger.
