Evelyn Wuensche

Frances “Evelyn” Wuensche went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the age of 97.  She was born May 15, 1926, in Thrall, Texas.  She spent the last 3 years living in Flower Mound, Texas with her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Nagel.  She lived most of her life in Thorndale, Texas, with her beloved husband of 72 years, Arlie Earl Wuensche, who preceded her in death and was patiently waiting for her to join him in Heaven.  She was also preceded in death by her parents Emanuel Perreten and Valesta Hubenak Perreten, two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Wuensche Johnston (Robert Johnston) and Susan Wuensche Nagel (John Nagel);  grandchildren Rodney Phillips, Dawn Phillips Puryear (Cole Puryear), Stephanie Richter Mack (Billy Mack), Amber Richter Weed (Jonathan Weed), John Bryant (Stephanie Bryant); great grandchildren Ally Puryear, Madison Puryear, Samuel Puryear, Logan Mack, Andrew Mack, Emily Mack, Luke Weed, Natalie Weed, Anna Weed, Marley Bryant, Rusty Bryant; and numerous cousins.

Evelyn was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the LWML.  She was also an active member of the Thorndale Volunteer Firemen’s Auxiliary. She worked at many bookkeeping jobs during her life, and retired from the CenTex Cotton Oil Mill in Thorndale.  She enjoyed RVing with the Lutheran Outdoor Ministries. She was beautiful, strong-willed, kind, generous, loving, and particular about most things.  She was well known for her sense of style and grace; and she was an excellent cook, always making sure everyone had plenty to eat and that her menu included everyone's favorite foods.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She liked to shop, read, play dominoes and all kinds of other games; and she loved  camping  with family and friends. During the last few months of her life, she longed for heaven.  She will be greatly missed.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 11, 2023, at the Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  Her memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 12, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale, Texas. Burial will follow at the St Paul Lutheran Church cemetery.
