Eugene W. Stuchly

January 7, 1947 — January 28, 2020

Eugene Walter Stuchly, 73, of Granger, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Tuesday afternoon, January 28, 2020 at the VA Hospital in Temple.

Eugene was born on January 7, 1947, in Taylor, Texas. He is the son of the late Lad and Hattie Stuchly of Granger. Eugene graduated from Granger High School and soon after that joined the Army and was deployed to Vietnam in 1967 where he fought in the big battles of Dak To - Hill 875 and Kontum. He was deployed home 6 weeks before his one-year stint in Vietnam with a severe case of Hepatitis C and was sent to Fort Hood to recuperate! Eugene was in the construction business most of his life. He met Kathy and they married and have a son Michael. Very recently, prior to moving back to Granger, he and family were residents of Grants, New Mexico for a year and half. He came back home to be close to family in his final months of life!

Eugene was a gentle giant with a heart of gold and never met a stranger. He was a very religious individual who loved his Lord. He was a member of SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. Eugene was an avid nature person who loved life and his family and his three dogs: Ziggy, Zoe and Bacon. For months on end, Eugene fought a tremendous battle with cancer and prayed he would be able to live on but our Dear Lord had a different plan for him. He planned for Eugene’s suffering and struggles to end and he did peacefully and took him to his permanent home! Eugene is now an angel/warrior for the Our Lord!  Heaven has a new angel and we have been left behind to mourn his passing, but we know he is in a better place where there is no pain and suffering and nothing but goodness. We have been so truly blessed and thankful to have had the opportunity to have known such a beautiful individual we could call family! If you look up to the sky you will notice the stars shine even brighter now! You will truly be missed our sweet man and always in our thoughts, prayers and in our hearts!

Eugene is preceded in death by his brother Daniel Stuchly, and brothers-in-law John Jezisek, Daniel Wendland, and Daniel Michalek.

Eugene is survived and lovingly remembered by his son Michael Stuchly of Granger, Michael’s mother, Kathy Schwitzer of Granger; one grandson Nathan Stuchly of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and his five sisters and four brothers: Helen Stefek (Raymond) of Taylor, Bernice Jezisek, Mina Stuchly of Hawkins, Bernard Stuchly (Cecilia) of Coupland, Irene Wendland (Bob Lancaster) of Kerrville, Raymond Stuchly (Dorothy) of Rogers, Virginia Knapek (Joe) of Taylor, Bobby Stuchly of Taylor, and Joy Michalek of Granger; 15 nieces and 18 nephews and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends who adored him.
