Eugene Herman Becker

Eugene Herman “Tuffy” Becker, born and raised in Thorndale Texas, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024, at the age of 93. Eugene was born September 3, 1930. He was a proud graduate of Thorndale High School, class of 1948. After that, he joined the Air Force and served as a military policeman in the 814th Air Police Squadron in Seattle, WA for 4 years. Following his years of service, Eugene had a long career of 36 years at the Austin Post Office. After retirement, you could always find him volunteering at St. David’s Hospital in South Austin, he loved all 20 years he spent there, and the friends he made along the way. Some of his interests included: listening to country music, especially Vince Gill, reading his daily newspapers, any and all things chocolate, visiting his favorite live country music town of Branson, MO with his wife, Wilma, picking Fredericksburg peaches in the summertime with his granddaughters, watching Texas A&M football, and spending time with his family.

Eugene is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Wilma Becker. He is survived by his two children, son Darrell “Craig” Becker and daughter-in-law, Jeanette Becker of Austin TX, and daughter Cheryl Denise Becker Finney and son-in-law, Robert Bracken Finney of Taylor TX. Affectionally known as PawPaw, he is survived by four grandchildren: April Rogers, Amber Becker, Lauren Finney, and Kaitlyn Finney; and four great grandchildren: Emma and Aiden Rogers, and Wade and Jacob Thein. He is also survived by his tabby cat and best buddy, Buster. Tuffy and his large family of 6 siblings, grew up in Thorndale, Texas, with many relatives still living there today. He will be remembered as a loving and spirited Husband, Brother, Father, PawPaw, and Great-Grandfather.

Funeral Services will be held at 10AM, Monday, September 16th, 2024, at the Taylor Cemetery in Taylor, Texas.

Friends and family are welcome to gather together after the service, location and time will be provided at a later date.
