Esther Edith Walker passed away Monday, November 12, 2018. She was born on November 27, 1925 in Coupland, Texas to Clara and Alfred Albers. Her mother was a homemaker and her father, a pharmacist, operated the Coupland Drug Company.
Esther was a caring person and possessed a cheerful, sweet and gentle nature. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She was devoted to her family and to her faith in Jesus Christ. Esther and her husband Carl raised their family on a farm and ranch in Taylor. She loved baking chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren and playing checkers with them. Esther worked as a secretary at Taylor Bedding Mfg. for many years and enjoyed the friendships she made during her employment.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl Walker, and her sister Hilma Pfluger and brother-in-law Bill Pfluger.
Esther is survived by son and daughter-in-law David and Vicki Walker of League City, Texas, daughter Sherri Walker of Taylor, Texas and daughter and son-in-law Janet and John Cook of West University Place, Texas, grandchildren Joshua Walker and wife Rebecca, Ashley Combs and husband Daniel, Jacob Cook and James Cook, and great-grandchildren Walker Combs, Emma Combs, Luke Combs, Avery Combs, Hunter Walker and Cayden Walker.
She is also survived by nieces Barbara Piper and husband Jack, Becky Sutton, Susan Schmidt and husband Russell, nephew Chris Pfluger and wife Linda, numerous great nephews and nieces, and dear friends and neighbors Cecilia Hannan and Mark Hannan.
Special thanks to Janene, Joyce, Ramona, Augusta and Dr. Faith Atai with Vitas Hospice who provided loving care for Esther.
A service celebrating Esther’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 24, at St. Peter’s Church of Coupland, 108 Wathen, Coupland Texas.
