Emma Ju'Well Logan

Emma Ju'well Logan, age  64, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away in the arms of her loving daughter, Michelle Freeland-Love, on the evening of Monday, September 12, 2022, at North Austin Medical Center of Austin, Texas.

Emma was born March 1, 1958, in Taylor, Texas to Houston and Annie Mae Tanksley. While residing in Taylor, Texas, she attended Taylor High School where she graduated in 1976. She attended Huston-Tilltson University in Austin, Texas. She married in 1979 to Michael Ray Freeland in Austin, Texas – to this union one daughter was born.

Emma and the late Cpl. Loe Logan were middle school sweethearts. After 20 years, they reunited in Taylor, Texas, fell in love, and married May 11, 1992, by Rev. Tommie L. Garner, Sr.

She continued her education at Temple College and graduated in 2017 receiving a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW). She also worked at Protect America Inc., where she was setting sale records that have not been broken to this day. She was a sponsor for NA/AA.

In 2004, Emma and the late Cpl. Logan joined Good Hope Baptist Church in Round Rock, Texas under the pastorship of Pastor Dr. Michael Oyedokum, II and, currently, Pastor Keyshawn Dooley, where she remained as a devoted member.

Emma was lovingly known as “The Queen” by family and friends. She loved fashion-setting trends and styles of her own that set her apart from the rest. She loved spending time with the love of her life, her daughter, Michelle, and grandson, Marcus Love, Jr. She loved spending quality time with her sister, Rudy Tealer, going to the mall and out to eat with their brother, Alfred (Beverly). She also love spending time with family and friends, making memories on the south side of Taylor, Texas.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Cpl. Loe Logan; her parents, Houston and Annie Mae Tanksley; two sisters, Sarah Blackwell and Ora Vincent; four brothers,  A.B. Blackwell, Troy Tanksley, Monroe Blackwell and James H. Blackwell; one nephew, Wendell Samuel, III; and a loving brother-in-law, Rev. Eddie R. Tealer, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Michelle Freeland-Love; her son-in-law, Marcus Love, Sr.; grandson, Marcus Love Jr; one sister, Ruby Tealer of Taylor; one brother, Alfred Tanksley (Beverly) of Elgin, Texas; and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Providence Funeral Home, 807 Carlos Parker Blvd. N.W., Taylor.

Emma’s homegoing services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2022 at Providence Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery, Taylor, Texas.
