Emil Joe Kaderka, 88 of Taylor, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024, surrounded by his three children.

Born on July 11, 1936, in Granger, Texas, he was the son of Emil Cyril and Martha Vitek Kaderka. Emil proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, before returning to marry the love of his life, Julie Tomasek on July 19, 1964. Together, they shared 50 years of marriage until her passing in 2015. The couple made their home in Taylor, where Emil worked at Alcoa for 30 years. They had three children: daughters, Janet and Joan, and son, Tim. Family memories include camping at Lake Sommerville, playing games and enjoying Emil’s famous barbeque.

After retiring from Alcoa in 1995, Emil spent his time playing dominoes, dancing to polka music, and enjoying the company of his family. He and Julie were longtime members of the Czech choir. He found great joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Emil is survived by his children, Janet and Bill Whitlock of Orange Beach, AL; Joan Kaderka of Georgetown, TX; and Tim and Kristi Kaderka of San Antonio, TX. Emil had six granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Drew Sherrow of Nolensville, TN; Courtney Whitlock of Royal Oak, Michigan; Jordyn Kaderka of Georgetown, TX; Jenna Kaderka of Ft. Worth, TX; and Holly and Hannah Helmke of Georgetown, TX. In addition, he leaves behind one great-granddaughter, Josie Drew Sherrow of Nolensville, TN.

Emil is also survived by sisters-in-law Betty (Richard) Kaderka and Linda (Darvin) Kaderka, Hubert and Dorothy Tomasek, Darwin and Gladys Tomasek, Larry and Janet Tomasek, Alfred and Patsy Tomasek, Henrietta and Wesley Hajda, and Linda Pekar. Emil was also loved and will be missed by many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Julie; his parents; and his brothers, Richard and Darvin Kaderka; and nephew, Bryan Kaderka.  He is also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Julie Tomasek; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Frances Tomasek; brother-in-law, Ron Pekar; and nieces, Deborah Hajda and Lisa Tomasek; and Steve Helmke(father to Holly and Hannah Helmke).

Visitation will be held Friday, December 27th at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, TX from 5:00pm-7:00pm; rosary to follow at 7:00pm.

A Celebration of Life Mass will take place at 10:00am on Saturday, December 28th at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, TX.  A burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Granger.

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for the Garden House Caregivers at Truewood that took amazing care of our dad. Also want to thank Valerian Hospice nurses and Mendi Rizo, our Home Instead caregiver.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association .
