Elsie Mott

Elsie Helen Shamard Mott, 92, a longtime resident of Taylor, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2020 at the SPJST Nursing Home.

Elsie was born to Joe and Mary Shamard on December 20, 1927 in Hamilton County, Texas. Elsie married Wilber (Pete) Mott on August 24, 1946. Elsie and Pete shared the same December 20 th birth date. Elsie and Pete were married for 38 years before Pete’s passing in 1984. They welcomed five children.

Elsie was a member of Northview Christian Church in Taylor for over 65 years. She was a loving wife, mother, Granny Elsie and friend. She possessed a servant’s heart, and her life was well lived.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Mott; son in law, Stephen “Steve” Miller; sister, Judy Hill; brothers, Herbert Shamard and Melvin Shamard; and parents, Joe and Mary Shamard.

Elsie is survived by her five children: Helen Shelton (Garland), Barbara Miller (the late Steve Miller), Leroy Mott (Merry), Norma Mott and Lisa Marshall; and sister, Lillian Schoen; sister in law, Dorothy Hughes; grandchildren: Michele Miller, Millicent Miller, Brittani Strickland, Rebecca Hunt, Heidi Gensler, Tanya Mott, Abbi Mott, Matti Schneider, Kendall Mott, Cameron Marshall, Camden Marshall, Natalie Seymour and Grant Shelton; 14 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers include Reece Gensler, Grant Shelton, Eric Hunt, Hayden Hunt, Joe Moldenhour, Sr., Brian Miksch, Case Miksch, Cameron Marshall, Camden Marshall and Stetson Adams. Honorary pallbearers include Elsie’s 10 granddaughters.
