Elroy Alfred Lieberum

Elroy Alfred Liberum, 90, of Thrall, Texas, passed away July 26,2018.

Elroy was born September 6, 1927 at Wuthrich Hill to Alfred and Cecelia (Rosenthal) Lieberum. Elroy was confirmed at Wuthrich Hill Lutheran Church. He graduated from Thrall High School and entered the Army after graduation.

After serving his country, he attended Sam Houston State Teacher’s College graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, and a Master’s Degree in Education.

Elroy married Elsa Rekoff on May 30, 1954.  They made their home in Thrall where Elroy enjoyed teaching Chemistry, Biology, General Science, Physics, and Algebra for 40 years at Thrall High School.

Mr. Lieberum was a charter member of the Thrall Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Secretary for many years.  He was also a member of St. John Lutheran Church and served on its council.

Elroy began working with bees as a teenager and continued his hobby throughout his life.  He learned to play the accordion when he was a boy and enjoyed playing and entertaining others for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Cecelia Lieberum; brother, Edwin Lieberum; wife of 43 years, Elsa Lieberum, and Son-in-Law; Larry Cramer.

Elroy is survived by daughters, Elisabeth Liberum and Eugenia Lieberum Ohe (Drake), grandchildren Davis and Camryn Ohe, and many extended family members.

Pall Bearers are: Hilton Lieberum, Robert Lieberum, Drake Ohe, and Davis Ohe,

Honorary Pall Bearers are: Nolin Werchan, Alvin Ray Kerlin, David Tulley, and Willie Herzer.

Providence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral Service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall

on Tuesday, July 31, at 10:00 a.m.  Internment will be at Taylor City Cemetery.
