In Loving Memory of Penny Barrington
Elizabeth “Penny” Ringstaff Barrington, 83, of Cedar Creek, Texas, Passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 2, 2024. A Grave side service will be held at 2:00 PM on April 11, 2024, at the Jonah Cemetery, 10870 SH-29, Georgetown, Texas. A Gathering of family and friends to follow at Thrall Fire Hall, 201 N. Main St. Thrall, Texas.
Penny was born on May 4,1940, outside of Austin, Texas, to Robert Stevens and Kathryn Elizabeth Ringstaff. Penny lost her mother at an early age and helped care for her (3) sisters.
Penny graduated from McCallum High school in 1957 and went on to attend Durham Business College. She graduated in 1959 with an Executive Secretarial Degree.
She began her Career at the Texas Employment Commission as a Clerk Typist and continued this job until she became a full-time mom. From 1982-2002 she worked at the Department of Public Safety as a Data Entry Supervisor until retirement.
She met the love of her life at the Circleville Hoedown Dance Hall in November of 1962 and was engaged quickly to James “Jimmy” Barrington in January of 1963. Jim and Penny were married June 28,1963 and married for 58 wonderful years! The Couple loved to Dance and would cut-a-rug at every opportunity.
The Newlyweds lived in North Austin for 30 years while raising their (3) children. They moved to Cedar Creek, Texas after purchasing property and building Penny’s dream home where they lived for 28 years. The last couple years have been spent at Heritage Lakes in Pflugerville, Texas.
Penny loved spending time with family and friends. Whether it was playing 42, sitting on the front porch or cooking a giant meal. The front porch was a favorite spot to watch all the birds she fed and listen to the rain hit the tin roof. She had a passion for cooking and whipping up something delicious in the kitchen. People would kill for a slice of her chocolate pie. She will be greatly missed.
Penny is survived by her (3) children, James (Kim) Barrington of Elgin, Texas, Brian Barrington of Dale Texas, and Stacey (David) Morin of Round Rock, Texas. Sisters, Gracie “Sissy” Pfeifer, and Edna Dugger. Brother-in-law Henry Tittle. Grandchildren, David “DJ” Morin, Brittany (Nathan) Wilkes, Samantha (Adrian) Cooper, Mason Morin, Dylan Barrington, and Mackenzie Barrington-Towers. Great-grandchildren, Presley Wilkes, Cindy Cooper, Logan Wilkes, Rosalie, and William Cooper (twins).
Penny was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Barrington. Parents, Robert and Kathryn Ringstaff. Sister, Patsy Boatright. Mother and Father-in-law, Rufus and Mary Barrington. Brother-in-laws, Sonny Boatright, Dan Mueller, William “WT” Dugger, Fred Pfeifer, Joe Ed Barrington, and Donald Barrington. Sister-in-laws, Karen Barrington, Joyce Tittle, and Ruth Barrington.
