Edward H. Volek

April 11, 1942 — November 18, 2019

Edward Henry Volek age 77 was born April 11, 1942 in Granger, Texas to Henry and Lydia Volek.  He attended Granger and Taylor schools.  Ed was 21 when he married Rubie Kasper from Taylor and together they had two daughters.  They were married for 29 years and lived in Hutto where he farmed and ranched.  They also had a ranch in Goldthwaite Texas where he enjoyed hunting and ranching there as well.  Ed also worked for 7-Up bottling company and Christianson Plumbing Company in Austin.  Shortly after leaving Christianson he started his own plumbing company, A-Tex Plumbing Company, in Pflugerille Texas where he worked for 25 years until his retirement. Upon retirement, he purchased a ranch in Paige Texas and continued ranching there until his death November 18, 2019.

Ed enjoyed hunting at their ranch in Goldtwaite and his ranch in Paige, as well as making several trips to Wyoming to hunt deer and elk and frequently brought home trophy mule deer.  Ed enjoyed barbequing and participated in barbeque cook offs with family and friends.  Another one of his enjoyments was helping his daughters raise 4-H and FFA show steers and chickens for both local and major shows.  He was very active in the Hutto FFA Booster Club securing many donations as well as buying stock and poultry for other 4-H and FFA members.  In addition to supporting Williamson County, he was also a buyer in the Austin Travis County Livestock Show. Ed was named Honorary Chapter Farmer by the Hutto FFA for his support.

For his past time, Ed enjoyed sitting in the backyard visiting with family and friends, petting his dogs, Girl and Sheila, listening to polka music and drinking beer. Recently, Walch Store was where he spent his mornings drinking coffee and visiting with friends.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by daughter, Lana and husband Richard Michalski of Elgin, daughter Dana and husband Tim Alexander of Hutto and granddaughter, Brodi Volek of San Antonio. Three sisters Shirley and husband Nolin Werchan, Henrietta Stanford and Helen Urbis and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Children's Hospital which was Ed's favorite charity.

The family wishes to thank all their wonderful friends and family for their generous help and support.
