Dorothy Mae Teggeman

March 16, 1928 — March 9, 2022

Dorothy Mae Teggeman passed away March 9, 2022 at her home in Taylor, TX after a short battle with cancer.  Mae, as she was commonly known, was born March 16, 1928, to F.W. “Willie” and Minnie (Gross) Schier in Hare, TX.

Mae was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Sandoval, TX.  She graduated from Thrall High School in 1945, and married Erwin Teggeman on July 30, 1947 at St John’s Lutheran Church in Thrall, TX.

Mae was a lady of unwavering Christian faith.  She was a compassionate and loving wife, mother and friend.   She was an elegant and gracious hostess for family, friends, and any guests they brought with them.

She loved cooking, entertaining, and yardwork.  She was active in St Paul Lutheran Church; Ruth Circle; Junior Women’s Study Club; New Century Club; and various other organizations.

Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Erwin; her parents; two sisters, Lydia Kelm and Ruth Fuchs; one brother, E.M.W. ‘Sonny’ Schier; grandson, Timothy Umiker, an infant grandson, and family friend Denise Richter.

Mom, known as MeeMaw, will be missed by her children, Gayle Collins (Kenneth), Sandy Umiker, Greg Teggeman (Ruth), and Griffin Teggeman (Brenda); her grandchildren, Shelley Giesecke (Kevin), Tracy Collins, Kevin Collins (Tiffany), Nathan Umiker, Thomas Teggeman (Binnur), Leanne Teggeman, Lindsey Perritano (David), Steven Teggeman, and Travis Teggeman; and her great-grandchildren, Emily, Nicholas, Chloe, Ethan, Alex, Keegan, Kaitlyn, Bree, Tyler, Ryan, Alana, Edison, and Jameson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 3:00-5:00 pm at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor.  Celebration of Life services will be Monday, March 14, 2022, 2:00 pm, at St Paul Lutheran Church, with burial to follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St Paul Lutheran Church of Taylor, Shepherd’s Heart of Taylor, or the charity of your choice.
