Dorothy Jean Kaspar

Dorothy J. Leshikar Kaspar, age 83 of Taylor, Texas passed away Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Round Rock.

Dorothy was born at home on September 23, 1935 to Willie and Adela Chalupa Leshikar in Williamson County, Texas near Beyersville. She graduated from Taylor High School in 1953.  She was married to Joseph L. Kaspar on January 28, 1953 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the S.P.J.S.T. for over fifty years and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Dorothy took an active interest in her family’s genealogy and contributed significantly to the book, “Czech Pioneers – Frank & Rosalie Leshikar.” She curated numerous albums of family photographs as a lasting memory of time spent together. Dorothy loved animals, especially cats and was passionate about their treatment and protection. She worked at Credit Bureaus in Taylor and Austin for over 30 years. Dorothy was very dedicated to her family and loved them all dearly, all of whom will never forget her kind, loving nature.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Joe Kaspar as well as all her brothers and sisters, Margaret Pavlik, Willie Leshikar, Jr., Franklin Leshikar, Alma Barker, Adale Emerick, and Hudson Leshikar.

Survivors include sons, Dr. Michael J. Kaspar of Washington, D.C., Douglas W. Kaspar of Austin; and daughter, Pamela J. Wareham of Hutto;                                                                                                                                                                                       grandchildren Jonathan Hemenway, Jennifer Kaspar Wright, Julianna Swed and Dr. Jessica Lewis; great grandchildren Fabian M. Torres, J. Anisa Dail, Joseph T. Dail, Nathan Swed, and Molly Swed, and great-great granddaughter Xyla Torres. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Pallbearers include Doug Cotner, Dan Kaspar, Doug Kuhl, Bobby Leshikar, Glen Polasek, and James Polasek, Sr.  Honorary pallbearers include Bernard Hyzak, Duane Kuhl, Willie Leshikar, James Polasek, Jr. and Johnny Polasek.

We will miss mom’s warm smile and her kindness, generosity, and love.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in their mother’s memory to St. Mary’s Catholic School, 408 Washburn St., Taylor, Texas 76574 or the Taylor City Animal Shelter (especially cats), c/o Taylor Police Department, 500 S. Main, Taylor, Texas 76574.

After the Mass, burial is at the Taylor City Cemetery.  In honor of their mother, the family invites everyone to a potluck reception at St. Mary’s Parish Meeting Center.
