Dorothy Marie Grimm

Dorothy Marie Grimm died peacefully Tuesday morning, December 17, 2024, at the age of 96 years.

She was born in the Circleville community and was the youngest child of John and Bessie Slampa Volcik. She attended Friendship Elementary School and later Taylor High School. After graduation from high school, she was employed as a legal secretary for the law firms of E.H. Lawhon and Grimes & Owen in Taylor. In 1946, she met her future husband, Gene Grimm. They were married after a short courtship and farmed in the Granger community for many years. In 1957, they moved to Taylor, and she went to work for Dr. Margaret Alexander, an ophthalmologist. She then worked as a teacher’s aide for the 12th Street School. Later, she was employed by the Texas Department of Public Safety in Austin in the Inspection and Planning Division. Following this, she was employed by Dr. Robert and Debi Kunisch for 18 years.

Dorothy enjoyed being a homemaker and gardener. She and Gene took pleasure in traveling and being members of the Taylor Dance Club.

She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor. At church, she was a member of the Altar Guild and served as an assistant Sunday School teacher.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Eugene (Gene) Grimm and their son Jimmy. She was also preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, and one brother.

She is survived by her two sons Bob (Marilyn) Grimm and Gary Grimm of Taylor; her six grandchildren Lori (Mike) Wilson, Jamye DeRiso, Mandy (Luke) Turner, Lisa (Brad) Moltz, Ben Grimm, and Ashley Grimm; and four great-granddaughters Jana Wall, Mylie Turner, Maddie Wilson, and Henley Moltz, as well as many beloved nephews and nieces.

The family wishes to thank Pastor George Qualley for his support and frequent visits. Also, the staff at The Monarch at Round Rock and Kindful Health for their services this year. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor or the charity of your choice.
