Dorothy Mae Carter, age 82, of Taylor passed away on Sunday, January 24th. She was born on March 13, 1938 to Lambert and Elsie Sladek in Taylor, Texas and later married Arthur Carter, Sr. on June 5, 1976. She was always a blessing to her family, children and friends. Dorothy loved playing bingo and never missed a domino session with her Mom and friends at the bingo hall. She never missed watching her Dallas Cowboys every Sunday. Dorothy shared a great sense of humor and enjoyed the company she was in. Dorothy loved helping people, as she was a waitress early on in her life until she transitioned to a child caregiver.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Lambert and Elsie Sladek, and one brother Rueben Sladek and is survived by husband Arthur, Sr., three sons and one step-son.
Dorothy was blessed with three children, Raymond Pokorny of Corpus Christi; Charlie (Chris) Pokorny of Dallas; and Arthur, Jr. (Lauren) Carter of Leander; and step-son Dennis Carter of Taylor. Brothers, Billy (Linda) Sladek of Lometa; and Howard (Brenda) Sladek of Lott; and Sister-In-Law Sherry Sladek of Taylor.
The family wishes to express their special thanks to all the nurses, doctors and hospital staff at the Baylor Scott & White in Round Rock who took great care of Dorothy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Cancer Research Foundation and to Meals on Wheels of Williamson County.
