Donna Lea Teston went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on October 16, 2018 in Austin, Texas at the age of 59 years old. Donna was born in Odessa, Texas to Emmitt and Ruth Hyman on September 12, 1959. Donna was married to Jim Teston and had two daughters and one son, Sheila, Debra and Billy. Donna graduated from the University of Texas, at Arlington, with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting. Donna worked as an Accounting Supervisor for the United Way of Greater Austin and as a Senior Accountant for the Town of Highland Park.
Donna spent her life taking care of people and was the most selfless person you've ever met. She always rushed to be by family's side when they were in the hospital. She took care of 3 kids and supported them in all ways. Donna spent hundreds of hours watching her son and daughters’ practice and play softball, baseball, volleyball, football, wrestling, track, band, and karate in the wind, rain, heat and snow…she was their biggest fan and they knew it. She had the best smile and was everyone’s best friend, specifically Jim and her kids.
She was a woman of immense strength and a woman of God. She said since the day she was diagnosed with cancer that she hoped her cancer would be used to glorify God and boy was it ever. She went to work every day for over 3 years with stage 4 cancer with joy in her heart and a smile on her face. She made friends with the nurses and countless people in the treatment room. Donna was an excellent artist who painted pictures, made pictures from glass, made decorative crosses, made jewelry, and created beautiful artwork of every kind. So many people picked up her hobbies because she enjoyed them so much and glowed when she talked about them. She also earned her brown belt in Kenpo Karate.
Donna is survived by her daughter and Son in Law, Sheila and Derrick Ellison, grandsons, Zackariah and Trevor; her daughter, Debra Teston; her son and his wife Billy and Amanda Teston and granddaughters Chloe and Bryn, her husband Jim Teston; her mother, Ruth Leatherwood, father Emmitt Hyman; brother, Lowell Hyman; sister, Rita McNew; mother-in-law, Fredia Farrell; plus many other nephews, nieces, and sisters and brother in laws.
