David Ruiz, 56, of Coupland, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, surrounded by his children and loved ones. He was born March 8, 1962 to Manuel and Mary Alice Ruiz.
David graduated from Taylor High School in 1980. In high school he was an avid tennis player and qualified for state three years in a row. After graduation he attended the University of Texas at Austin.
In 1996, David married the love of his life Celsa Ruiz and two children were born to this union, Brianda and Adrian.
David was a loving husband, father, son and brother. He loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by each of them.
David was a huge music fan and would kick back and listen to music for hours. He also loved to dance and was well-known for impersonating James Brown out on the dance floor. He was a huge fan of the Houston Oilers, and enjoyed watching the Longhorns and the Cowboys play. One of David’s favorite things was the annual camping trip he took with his family and friends. At the drop of a dime, David could make up rhymes and have everyone around him laughing.
David was so very proud of his children and loved watching them play sports. He was their biggest fan and always cheered them on. Through this, he developed many baseball friends, who have become his “baseball family.”
David was always there for a friend in need, always with a smile on his face, and his hand out to help. A smile that we will never forget.
David was preceded in death by his grandmother, Juanita De La Rosa who shared a birthday month with him and his mother-in-law, Casilla Sanchez Vda. Mora.
David is survived by his loving wife, Celsa Ruiz, and children Brianda and Adrian Ruiz, of Coupland, Texas. His parents Manuel and Mary Alice Ruiz, of Taylor, TX. His siblings, Daniel Ruiz of Georgetown, TX, Debra Ortiz (Marco) of Taylor, TX and Manny Ruiz (Carrie) of Round Rock, TX. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, numerous loving cousins and his extended in-law family.
This is not goodbye David, this is until we see each other again – “Hook ‘em Horns!"
