David Lee Martinez

December 17, 1962 — August 26, 2023

On August 26, 2023, David Lee Martinez, also known as “Superman”, was called home by God and heaven gained an angel.  He was born on December 17, 1962, in Taylor, Texas.

David married the love of his life, Rebecca, eighteen years ago and they shared a special bond in which you never saw one without the other.  Together they took care of their cherished cats, Jewels, Dom, and Letto.

David was blessed with two wonderful sons, David Cosman and Jonathan Martinez.  He was very proud of them and enjoyed talking with them daily.  He was a loving supportive father who cherished his sons dearly.

David was a brilliant mechanic. He put his first engine together when he was twelve years old.  He took pride in his work and enjoyed many of his customers who quickly became friends.  David valued his family and his love for God most of all.  He had a big, generous heart and a great sense of humor.  David always stayed positive regardless of the battles he was facing.  David never met a stranger and was quick to strike up a conversation.  He looked forward to his weekend outings with his dear friends, Rudy, and Luisa Lerma, which he enjoyed dearly.  Many laughs were shared, and many memories were made.  David enjoyed his childhood and had fond memories growing up with his cherished sister, Lupie Palacios.  He treasured her dearly.  David also enjoyed the time he spent with his niece Cristi (Kiki) Cross and nephew Mark Palacios as well as his numerous great nieces and nephews.  He took great pride in being called Uncle Peanut.  David’s Uncle Louis, Aunt Olga and cousin, Baba held a special place in his heart.

Most of all, David was grateful to his loving parents, Lee, and Gloria Martinez, for their guidance and support and for being such great role models in which they taught him values of faith, love and respect for others. He was also grateful to his mother and father-in-law and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law who he was very close to and felt as if they were part of his immediate family.  He was so grateful the day his friend Ricky became his brother-in-law.  David cherished Ricky’s family, Kandi, Cody, and Christopher.

David cherished his dear friends, Frank Rendon and Oscar Maldonado who were always there for him.  He was also very close to his special friend at dialysis, Tyrone Adams.

The family would like to thank Dr. Munshi and all her loving staff of nurses at Round Rock Scott and White Dialysis Center, who took extra special care of David.

David was preceded in death by his father, Lee Martinez, father-in-law Bill Cain, mother-in-law Dorothy Cain, sister-in-law Ann Cocke and best friend and brother-in-law Ricky Cain, whom he rejoiced to be reunited with.

David will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Rebecca, his mother Gloria, sister Lupie, sons David and Jonathan, numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, in-laws, and friends.
