David Joseph Armelli

May 3, 1926 — February 3, 2021

David Joseph Armelli, 94, of Grapeland, Texas, and previously a longtime resident of Brookside Village, Texas, passed away on February 3, 2021 at his home.

Dave was born on May 3 rd , 1926, to Guirino and Lucy Armelli in Youngstown, Ohio. After graduating from Youngstown High School in 1944, he joined the Army of the United States, serving in the Air Force branch in the Asiatic, Pacific and American Theaters. He was honorably discharged in October, 1946.

Dave found work in the Cleveland, Ohio area and met Patricia Ann Wolfe there. They were wed on January 6 th , 1951, and headed south for better job opportunities near Houston. Dave worked for the City of Houston, and finally Tenneco Oil Company for many years as a draftsman.

Dave was determined to provide for his family, and to give them the life that he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him that anything else in the world, and he was unendingly proud of his wife, Pat, and daughters, Janet and Dona, and always supported them. Dave and Pat also cared for his mother, Lucy, who lived with them for thirty years after his father passed away.

Dave was also passionate about his community, and spent untold hours as a volunteer fireman and member of the Brookside Village city Council. He took great pride in keeping his home, yard, and community the best place to be. Dave served in many roles as a faithful member of Saint Helen’s Catholic Church in Pearland, starting at the old building at the Pearland Airport, and seeing the beautiful new campus come to life through the years.

Dave was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, and his beloved wife, Pat. He is survived by his daughters, Janet Hees and her husband Kenneth of Pflugerville, Dona Coppedge and her husband Robin (Trap) of Grapeland; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his brother, Jerry Armelli; and many nieces and nephews.

Dave was buried next to his wife, Pat, at Saint Johns Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in the Richland Community of Pflugerville, Texas, at a private family service on February 8 th , 2021. Those who wish to honor his memory are asked to send donations to:
