Darwin Zrubek

Darwin Derrick Zrubek, age 50, of Granger, Texas passed away peacefully at home on March 10, 2021. He was born on April 29, 1970 in Taylor, Texas to Darwin Rudolph and Katherine Ann (Vogel) Zrubek. He entered the US Navy in 1988 where he served with fortitude and dedication for 4 years. After leaving military service he went on to work for Atmos Energy for over 27 years where he was known for being the one who everyone could count on. On October 7, 2000, he married Kelly Ann Rubes in Austin. Together they traveled the world, skied many North American slopes, and shared their love of their Texas Czech and Austrian culture with numerous friends. Darwin will always be remembered by his for his love of cooking good food, providing great drinks and being the ultimate host. He loved hunting, hiking, biking and enjoyment of the outdoors, particularly his happy place at the river. Darwin battled cancer for the past two and a half years. No one was surprised about his strength as he never stopped fighting, never gave up, or questioned God’s plan. While we grieve his loss, we know that he is finally at peace and out of pain.He was a good man and will be missed.

Visitation will be held at Providence Funeral Home, Taylor, Texas on Monday, March 22nd from 5-8 pm, with the Rosary beginning at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at Granger Brethren Church on Tuesday, March 23 at 11 am. Burial will follow at the Granger Brethren Cemetery in Granger, Texas.
