Darrell Glenn Pfluger

Darrell Glenn Pfluger, 77, died on April 4, 2023. He was born in Pflugerville, Texas, to Glenwood and Jewelene Prinz Pfluger on June 4, 1945. Darrell was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pflugerville, and he confirmed his faith in Jesus Christ at Trinity Lutheran, Sealy.

Darrell attended school in Pflugerville and Sealy, Texas, before graduating from high school in Woodward, Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Korea during the Viet Nam War, was promoted to sergeant, and was honorably discharged.

Darrell was a butcher. He worked at Pfluger Market, Kash Karry Grocery, and East Poultry Company. His interests included cars, guns, calf roping, bulldozing, and especially truck pulling with his brother, James, and the truck, “Tuff Enuff”. He took great care of his pets, from his childhood dog, Ranger, through his last three - Bear, B.J. and Jackie.

While working at Kash Karry, he met the love of his life, Barbara Lehman. Over the last 46 and a half years, Barbara, her daughter, Karen, and Karen’s children, Luke and Lauren Smith were Darrell’s beloved family.

Barbara; daughter, Karen and her husband Mark Hale; grandchildren, Luke Smith and Lauren Smith, and sister-in-law Sherry Pfluger, survive him, along with many Prinz and Pfluger cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Pfluger; sister, Sharon Pfluger; parents, Glenwood and Jewelene Pfluger; grandparents, Edgar and Ella Pfluger and Alfred and Dora Prinz. He was also preceded in death by aunts and uncles: Charles Pfluger, Leon and Gladys Pfluger, Al and Betty Prinz, and Nat and Fay Penton.

Arrangements include visitation Thursday, April 13, 5-7 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home, 807 Carlos G. Parker Blvd. Taylor, TX, funeral service Friday, April 14, 2 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home and burial Friday, April 14, 3:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, 500 Immanuel Rd. Pflugerville TX.
