Danny Martinez gained his wings to be with the Lord, his Dad Phillip Martinez Jr., grandparents Rev. Manuel & Susie Ochoa Sr., Felipe & Narcisa Martinez Sr., & Uncle Henry Martinez on November 22, 2023. Danny was a beloved son, brother, uncle, & nephew. Though we mourn with great sadness for his sudden departure from this earthly world, we know Danny walked through the golden gates of Heaven with his big infectious smile as his late family members, along with the Lord, welcomed him home.
Danny was born February 23, 1978 in Taylor, TX, to the late Phillip Martinez Jr. & Magdalene Ochoa Martinez. Danny leaves behind many memories. Memories of laughter due to his unexpended questions that made you laugh along with his shocking comments, and his silly actions. Danny lived in the 80’s era and lived it well. He had so much love for 80's music & movies. If he had his wired headphones on you knew two things: he had his CD Walkman on him and he had his music blaring while listening to Iron Maiden, Metallica, Rush, Simple Minds, U2, or Lynyrd Skynyrd while playing air drums. Many times you would catch him watching one of his favorite movies for the 100th time. He admired horror movies, like Michael Myers, Jason, Poltergeist, & Pet Cemetery. Then he had his favorite 80's movies, with The Breakfast Club being his top pick; Terminator, The Outsiders, & Police Academy just to name a few. Danny also had a great love for football. You would see him drawing football plays on paper. He was a diehard fan of the Michigan Wolverines ever since he was a kid. And his favorite football player, no matter what team he was on, was Payton Manning. He loved his mama's home-cooked meals with, of course, a stack of his mama's homemade tortillas (because he refused store bought) and a large cup of Dr. Pepper or tea. Growing up he had a passion for playing the drums and was really good at it. He played for his late grandfather's, Rev. Manuel Ochoa Sr., church, Templo Ebenezer Iglesia; and in his free time he would play his drums to his choice is music.
Danny had a gentle, loveable soul that will be greatly missed by so many that he leaves behind. His mother Magdalene, aka “Nene”; older brother, Gilbert "Gibby” (Maria) Martinez; baby sister, Amy (Steven Murguia) Martinez; and 4 nephews, John, Dorian, Baby Steven, & Cain. He also leaves behind his aunts, Amanda (Chris) Vega, Esther (Albino) Granados, Dora Martinez, Lucy (Mando) Madavilla, Teresa (Mateo) Ortega, Linda (Raul) Ochoa, and Josie (Angel) Guerrero; uncles, Eliseo (Mary) Ochoa, Elias (Mary) Ochoa, David (Elisabeth) Ochoa, Manuel (Pat) Ochoa, the late Henry (Irene) Martinez, Robert (Lucy) Martinez, Ruben Martinez, and Leroy Martinez. He leaves countless cousins and lets not forget, his furry family members, "El Gatito" Laurance & Honey.
