Cynthia Ann Melcher

Cynthia Ann (Rogge) Melcher, 63, born in Topeka, KS, passed away this last Thursday, November 22 ^, 2018.

Born May 10, 1955 to Marvin Rogge and Marlene Smith, she was married on June 9, 1979 in Thorndale, TX to Ernest Delbert Melcher.  She completed high school in Junction City, KS, attended St. John’s junior college in Winfield, KS and completed her teaching degree at Concordia Teachers’ College in Seward, NE.  She also earned her Master of Education from Concordia University in Seward, NE in 2011.  Her first and only call to serve St. Paul, Thorndale began in 1977 as a teacher and then as a principal.  She was known throughout central Texas as a champion of Lutheran Education and touched many lives in throughout the region.

She is survived by her parents, Jerry and Marlene Smith, biological father Marvin, husband Ernest, daughter Bethany (Huff), two grandsons, RJ and Austin, sister Pat (Mock) and her two children, Jeremy and Heather.  Her brother, Robert Smith, precedes her in eternal rest.

Visitation is at Providence Funeral Home, Taylor Texas on Monday, November 26 ^, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Services and committal will be at St Paul Lutheran Church, Thorndale, TX on Tuesday November 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested dedicated to St Paul Lutheran School in Cindy’s name.
