Clement Walter Strmiska, age 79, of Granger, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home and went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 6, 2022. Graveside visitation will be Monday, March 14 from 10:00-11:00am with a service at 11:00am at the Granger City Cemetery.
Clement was born to Joseph J. Strmiska and Mary (Skrhak) Strmiska on April 24, 1942, in Georgetown, Texas. He was the youngest of eight siblings raised on his parent’s farm in Granger. Clement purchased the farm from his parents and resided there for his lifetime. Clement was a loving husband to his best friend and wife, Nancy (Rogers) Strmiska for thirty years.
Clement was a farmer and raised animals. He was employed at The University of Texas in Austin and later retired from the Taylor Post Office and the Bartlett State Jail.
Clement loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and riding horses. He was a true country cowboy. Clement valued his family’s Czech heritage and shared the language with his children.
Clement became a born-again Christian in the mid-1980s and surrendered his life to Christ. He lived each day with an urgency to share the gospel with everyone and became an ordained minister. Clement served as Chaplain at the Bartlett State Jail for 15 years, leading many men to Christ. He held countless bible studies over the years and wanted everyone to have the opportunity to know the Lord and receive his saving grace.
Clement was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Mary Strmiska, infant son, Victor, brothers, George, Jerry, Frank, and Daniel Strmiska, and sisters, Georgia Drozd, Francis Steffek and Geraldine Schneider.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children Clement J. Strmiska and wife Sandy of Bartlett, Michele Stabeno and husband Kent of Taylor, Melissa Filla and Phil Strother of Houston, Suzanne Weems and husband Daryl of Crawford, Audra Kackley and husband Gene of Louisiana, Cynthia Beavers of Granger, Paul Beavers of Wyoming; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Knapek) Strmiska of Granger; and many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons David Stabeno, Garrison Filla, Benjamin Strmiska, Whitten Weems, Peyton Weems and grandson in-laws Jimmy Estrada, Mario Torres, and Troy Bragg. Honorary pallbearers include grandsons Clement Lee Strmiska and Kenneth Stabeno.
Clement’s children and their families would like to thank Nancy, for the unwavering love and care that she always showed their dad. Our family and future generations will be blessed by this legacy of love.
