Clarence Martin David

November 11, 1944 – February 21, 2021

Clarence was born on November 11, 1944, to Victor Sr. and Viola Strmiska David in Taylor, Texas. He grew up in Granger. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. He served as an altar boy and attended St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic School. He graduated from Granger High School in 1964. He participated in football, basketball, and track. Clarence earned the nickname “mulok,” because he ran so fast. After graduation, Clarence went to work at Alcoa, where he was a crane millwright. He worked at Alcoa for a little more than 46 years.

Clarence was a farmer at heart. He had a farm west of Granger and did custom work as well as working his job at Alcoa. On April 24, 2004, he married Arlene Schneider at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylor. Clarence and Arlene traveled after retirement. They went to 45 of the U.S. states, and visited more than 20 countries. Clarence enjoyed those cruises and vacations with friends. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer less than a month before his passing on February 21, 2021.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene; his children, Gregory David and wife Kelly of Arlington, Milissa Kleinfelder and husband Don of Temple, Vanessa Ramirez and husband David of Hutto, and Dennis David and Ashlie Woods of Granger. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Charles and wife Stacey Schneider of Hutto, and Christi and Emory Stromberg of Taylor. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Rachel Buster, Rebekah, Sarah, and Josiah David, Samuel and Alyssah Kleinfelder, Elena and Emma Ramirez, and Damon, Lily, Katarina, and Cash David; step grandchildren Chase, Brandon and Sarah Schneider and Aubrie and Trey Stromberg, Noah and wife Victoria Spikes, and Abigail and Garret Carpenter. He also has a great granddaughter, Olivia Buster of San Antonio, and step great-grandsons Timothy and Hudson Spikes of Georgia. He is also survived by his brother Victor and wife Lorine David of Taylor; sisters, Carol and husband Warren Richter of Pflugerville, Pauline and Donald Kovar of Taylor, and Rita Marburger of Granger; as well as his sister-in-law, Florene Richter of Everman, and brother-in-law, Barney Lee Fischer of Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Viola David; and a grandson, Benjamin David.

Clarence had an infectious laugh and a hug for anyone. He was a kind, hard-working and generous person. He had a knack for mechanical things and could fix just about anything. He will be remembered by his numerous cousins and friends for his jokes and fun times. He enjoyed visiting relatives in Pilot Point and was proud of his Czech roots. He loved playing dominos and cards, and enjoyed dinners with supper club friends and activities with JOY Club.

Visitation will be held at the Providence Funeral Home in Taylor from 5:00 -8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 24 ^th , with a rosary being held at 7:30 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial take place at the Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 25 ^th , with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
