Christopher Mark Widmer, dearly loved son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at Scott & White Hospital on April 12, 2024, at the age of 57. He was born in Austin, Tx. on February 8, 1967. He is survived by his loving parents, Howard and Janet Widmer, devoted sister Kim Kubala, her husband Mike Kubala, and nieces Kaitlyn and Kelsey Kubala. He is also survived by his cherished brother Matt Widmer and Matt's husband, Eric Cloud.
Chris's faith journey began at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin, Tx., where he was baptized. He later confirmed his faith at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Conroe, Tx., forging a spiritual foundation that guided him throughout his life.
A graduate of Conroe High School in 1985, Chris pursued higher education at the University of Houston, where he graduated in 1995, furthering his passion for learning and knowledge.
Chris possessed a myriad of interests and talents. He harbored an enduring passion for aiding those in need, mentoring to others with struggles, while always prioritizing others above himself. During his time at Conroe High School, he immersed himself in tennis, a love he carried with him throughout his life. Tennis was not his only sport when he had the opportunity, he loved playing a round of golf with his friends, relatives, dad, and his little brother. Whenever possible, he reveled in the camaraderie of friends during hunting and fishing trips, always concluding the day by preparing the day's bounty for everyone's enjoyment. With a background working in various restaurants, he honed his culinary skills, transforming mere meals into delectable creations for those around him. Later in life, he discovered a profound fondness for arts and crafts, painting artworks including Christmas ornaments, and repurposing everyday items for innovative uses. His joy lay in gifting these creations to his beloved friends and family.
Chris endured many struggles throughout the course of his life, but his unwavering trust in God gave him the strength to conquer his challenges, above all, Chris had a warm heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday April 20, 2024, at Palm Valley Lutheran Church, 2500 E Palm Valley Blvd., Round Rock, Texas 78665. Following the service there will be an opportunity for fellowship with friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Heart Association and/or The City of Taylor Animal Shelter .
Chris leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace with God in heaven, knowing he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
