Christine Lowrie

March 18, 1950 — June 5, 2021

Christine Moore Lowrie, 71, of Taylor, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 surrounded by her family.

She was born in Portland, Maine to Henry and Bernadette Moore.  She and her family moved around until they settled in Houston, TX, when she was approximately 9 years old.  She graduated from Smiley High School in 1968.  Shortly after, she met and married the love of her life, Louis “Gene” Lowrie on August 7, 1970.  Together they had two children, Lori and Mark.

In her 30s, she and Gene joined East Houston Baptist Church, where she became very involved in the WMU, Sunday School and other church activities.  In 2005, she and Gene move to Taylor, Texas, where they joined Memorial Baptist Church which she and Gene loved to sing and help others. One of the things she loved to do in Taylor was dress up and participate with the great ladies in the Taylor Red Hats.  A special thanks to those women for making her feel so welcome and loved.

One of her greatest treasures, was being a “Mimi” to her six grandkids.  She would drop anything to help them.  They were her pride and joy.  She also loved crocheting blankets, making crafts for others, reading, watching TV with her husband, dressing up as a clown, entertaining those at the local nursing homes, and fishing.  She would fish for anything that would bite. More than anything though, Christine loved her family, her friends and she loved the Lord.  We will all miss her wonderful, contagious laugh!

Christine is survived by her husband of 50+ years, Louis “Gene” Lowrie; daughter Lori Krolczyk and husband, Jeff; son Mark and wife, Alayna; brother Michael Moore, and wife, Sue; sister Karen Sweeney; grandchildren Jessica McGarity, Emily McGarity and fiancé, Blake Brown, Evelyn Lowrie, Corban Krolczyk, Everett Lowrie, Evan Lowrie. Nephew Toby Moore and wife, Jennifer.

Preceded in death by her parents Henry Ray and Bernadette “Betty” Vidal Moore; father and mother-in-law K.C. and Nettie Lowrie; uncle, Gerald “Jerry” Vidal; brother-in-law Ronald Sweeney, nephew, Matthew Sweeney.

Memorials can be made to Memorial Baptist Church, PO Box 90, Taylor TX 76574.
