Charles William Sulak

August 14, 1951 — June 13, 2019

Charles William Sulak, 67, of Granger, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019 in a Round Rock hospital following a brief illness.

Charles was born August 14, 1951 to Ludvick and Rosa (Jakulec) Sulak in Temple, Texas. His early life was spent on the family farm at Red Ranger near Rogers. During those years he developed his strong work ethic by following the example set by his father and by hands-on labor attacking all the chores necessary for farm life. It is probably due to this upbringing that he was known for life by friends as a “workhorse.” He became an accomplished mechanic, electrician, carpenter, welder, plumber, roofer, pipefitter and metal worker. He was also a maintenance man for Luminant in Rockdale for 40 years. There was nothing he could not build or fix and was the first person anyone called when they needed help. Charlie never disappointed them! Charlie attended school in Rogers graduating from high school in 1969. While in school he was exceptional in mathematics and football. He competed in Number Sense twice at the UIL state level. In this competition, participants must solve problems mentally and were not allowed to use a pencil, making it a tough contest. In football, he was especially known for his strength and ability to take a hit. Once he came off the field after taking a blow to the face, he spit two teeth on the ground and retuned to play. After graduating, he continued his education at Temple Junior College and University of Texas at Arlington. He married Barbara Kubacak at S.S. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in September 1976. Two children were born to this union, a daughter, Courtney, and a son, Phillip. The family lived in Granger and were members on SSC&M. Charlie also belonged to Knights of Columbus, and spent many hours working in S.S. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church Fellowship Hall for fundraisers. He had many friends, and especially enjoyed visiting with them anytime, anywhere. During his final days, so many came to visit him that he was moved to a larger room.

He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Raymond Sulak.

Charles leaves his wife Barbara, daughter Courtney, son Phillip, sisters Joann Barcak and Barbara Parson, many friends, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Providence Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Providence Funeral Home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale at 12:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Zane Graves, Ralph Hengst, Robert Fails, Jody Kaderka, Alan Pausewang, Greg Hengst, Chad Seelye, and Eddie Barcak.
