Charles Raymond “Ray” Clark, 89, of Thrall passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019.
Ray, as everyone knew him, was born to Oliver and Lora Bell (Townsend) Clark on December 18th, 1929 in Georgetown. He grew up around the folks in Taylor and graduated from Taylor High School. He met the love of his life, Viola Ruth Braun, and they wed on April 4 th , 1954. They were blessed with one daughter, Deborah. Ray worked as a lineman with Texas Power & Light for about 6 years, then switched professions and became a Texas State Trooper. He worked as a trooper for over 30 years before retirement. Ray and Ruth were members of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg, TX. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and spending time with family. Ray was always the first to help out anyone in need.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ollie Clark; and sister, Virgie Praesel.
Ray is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth; daughter, Deborah Clark; sisters, Marguerite Willard, Mildred Cast, Nell (Gene) Swanburg, and Frances Heckman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Providence Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2019 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Walburg, Texas (2929 FM 972, Walburg, TX 78626) at 10:00am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Glen Zieschang, Larry Bielss, Kenneth Marak, Eugene Marak, Richard Heckman, Jr., and Kenneth Kisamore.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery Fund, American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, or the charity of your choice.
