Bridget Supak

April 10, 1947 — August 2, 2021

Bridget Mary Supak (née Stafford), 74, of Beyersville, Texas passed away peacefully at home with her family on Monday, 2 August 2021.

Bridget, affectionately known as Breda by her family, was born on 10 April 1947 in Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland to John and Bridget Stafford (née Cooper) on the very date of her parents’ wedding anniversary. She was delivered on a farm the sixth of thirteen children as a proud dairy farmer’s daughter.

Bridget, having a passion for helping others, trained for her nursing career in England before being recruited as a registered nurse to join John’s Community Hospital in Taylor, Texas. As an RN there, she had the opportunity to care for countless people and personally delivered numerous local babies into the world. It just so happened that she was working with one of her future husband’s sisters and from there those twos’ fate was set.

Bridget was wed to Frankie E. Supak by St. Mary’s Father Desmond Murphy on 21 June 1975 in St. Michael’s Church in Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland surrounded by numerous family and friends. Frankie always tenderly called Bridget his “Irish Rose.”

The two returned to a farm in central Texas where Bridget later stayed home to raise their growing family - her “beautiful babies” - John, James, and (Little) Bridget.

For many years Bridget was a proud, devoted, and happy stay-at-home Mom becoming a larger part of the surrounding community while her children attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Taylor, Texas. Bridget was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and part of St. Anne’s Altar Society and was always willing to help the church, school, and community in any way she was able.

Once her children were older, Bridget returned to helping to care for those she loved the most, the elderly, as a restorative nurse's aide. She worked many fulfilling years in rehabilitation facilities in Taylor and Round Rock, Texas making many friends, adopted family members, and colleagues along the way.

Bridget never knew a stranger and always had a kind and mischievous smile, a bit of Irish brogue, and the “gift of gab” for anyone she met. She loved her “whodunnit” shows, a good lightning storm on the front porch, and being with her children and grandbabies. She felt truly blessed when she was able to visit with her parents, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews across the globe.

Bridget was preceded in death by her cherished baby sister, Josephine Stafford; her loving parents, Bridget and John Stafford; her youngest brother, Nicky Stafford; and her brother Tom all of Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland; as well as her precious son, John Supak, of Beyersville, Texas.

Bridget is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years - Frankie of Beyersville, Texas; her son - James Supak and wife Anna of Beyersville, Texas and her grandson Stafford; her daughter - Bridget Supak-Peoples and wife Siobhan of Arlington, Texas and her grandson Gabriel and granddaughter Ariel; her brothers - Sean, James, George, and Aidan Stafford; her sisters - Ellen Starr, Betty Probertt, Kay Byrne, Marie O’Shea, and Ann Farrelly; as well as a plethora of nieces and nephews the world over.

A private Celebration of Life will be held with the immediate family.
