Billy Hodon, 87, of Pflugerville, Texas, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
Billy was born on August 31, 1936, in Circleville, Texas, to Adolph and Alice Mikeska Hodon. He grew up in Taylor with his younger brother, Jerry. Billy began work at HEB in Taylor and at the age of 17, moved to Austin to continue working for HEB. He was drafted in 1959, at the age of 23, to serve in the United States Army.
After returning to the Austin area, Billy met Leonardine (Deane) Alexander on a blind date at the UT vs A&M football game. They married on November 10, 1962, and started their family.
Billy worked for the Texas Department of Transportation, in the Railroad Division as an Engineer Technician, before retiring with almost 30 years of service. After retirement, Billy and Deane enjoyed traveling around the United States and to the Czech Republic with friends and family. Billy also loved working on his family history/genealogy. Above all, Billy loved his family, friends, and the Lord.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts, uncles, and beloved cousins. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Deane; daughter, Sharon & her husband Terry Issleib; daughter, Debbie & her husband Brian Beall; 6 grandchildren, Cameron (Courtney) Beall, Katelyn (Clayton) Spencer, Seth Beall, Julie (Christopher) Sloan, Mason Issleib, and Scott (Courtney) Beall; and 5 great-grandchildren, Carter, Eleanor, Deacon, Noah, and Madelyn.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Taylor Brethren Church in Taylor, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the Taylor Brethren Church, Hus School Encampment ( huscamp.org/donate ), or a Hospice Foundation of your choice.
The family would like to thank the staff at San Gabriel Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility for the comfort and care provided the last 2 years. Special thanks to the staff of Beacon Hospice for extra care and support during the last 7 months.
